2026 Coastal Oregon Oil Leak Tour Overview
We are still working on the specifics for the 2026 tour but we are planning on heading back to the West Coast this year. As the name indicates, we are going to visit the beautiful, rugged coast of Oregon.
While subject to change, here are some of the sights we plan to see or visit:
- Meet up in Hood River
- Drive the Rowena Curves on the Old Columbia Highway
- Tour the back roads of the Wine Country
- Visit the historic town of Silverton
- Tour some of the Linn County Historic Bridges and drive to the coast via the Alsea Highway
- Visit the Silver Falls
- Ride the ferry across the Willamette river
- Visit Cape Perputua where we will drive 800 feet to the highest viewpoint accessible by car along the Oregon Coast
- Drive the scenic Oregon Coast Highway to view rugged coastline, miles of pristine sand, light houses, capes, and haystacks
- Wrap up at Manzanita Beach

Basics
The Oil Leak series started in 2011 to celebrate the 50thanniversary of the E-Type Jaguar. Every year since then, with the exception of 2020 when Covid intervened, there has been an Oil Leak trip. Though Jaguar E-Types predominate as participants, other Jaguars have also made appearances including XK120, XK140, Mark 10, XJ8, XK8 and F-Types. All are welcome.
Unlike many other organized road trips, the Oil Leaks are very much DIY experiences – just a bunch of friendly Jaguar enthusiasts sharing enjoyable driving roads and interesting places to visit. Each participant is responsible for their own hotel arrangements, luggage, navigation, spare parts etc. There is no dedicated support vehicle – we all support each other. The organizers are volunteers – this year it is a Mark and Rhonda Hull with contribution from their Oregonian friends. They outline the daily routes, research the stops along the way, research accommodation for each overnight stay and seek out eateries for group dinners in the evening and sometimes lunch along the way. Though numbers have varied widely over the years we have found that it works best with 8-12 cars and 20-25 participants.
